After graduating from Cal Poly SLO with a BS degree in Agriculture Business Management, he began his real estate career in 1982 as an appraiser with Bruce Beaudoin and Associates. The 3 years there provided him with valuable knowledge of a wide variety of property types, including single family residential, income property, raw land, and commercial real estate. He has specialized in residential properties since 1985. After joining Keller Williams Realty Central Coast in Pismo Beach in 2003, Dick and his wife Narlene opened Keller Williams Realty Coastal Valley in Santa Maria in 2004, where Dick is currently the Broker & Operating Principal.
Dick and his wife, Narlene Carter Keenan, began the Keenan Carter Group upon joining Keller Williams Realty. The group is a leader in the use of high-tech tools to market properties and increase a property’s visibility, with emphasis on the Internet. High-tech and other proven techniques have made the group one of the most successful real estate operations on the Central Coast. In the late fall of 2007, the group began conducting foreclosure tours in San Luis Obispo and northern Santa Barbara Counties.
One result of the “foreclosure tours” has been widespread media coverage, which increases knowledge of our area and the Keenan Carter Group. Good Morning America (ABC-TV) covered and featured the fourth tour, and Dick was interviewed live, via satellite hookup, on Neal Cavuto’s program on Fox News. Nightline and News Hour (PBS with Jim Lehrer) are among others with an interest in covering the seminars. In June of this year, Dick and Narlene were featured in CAR Magazine. Area media coverage has also been excellent.
Dick is a member of a number of professional and business organizations. They include: the Pismo Coast and Santa Maria Association of Realtors® for which he’s been a member of the Board of Directors, the California Association of Realtors®, the National Association of Realtors®, the Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce, and Grover Beach Rotary.

She has increasingly successful real estate sales experience, in both new and existing residences. Ms. Carter-Keenan has represented tract and condominium developers, as well as upscale custom home developers and estate owners here on the Central Coast. Ms. Carter-Keenan has worked with buyers ranging from first-time purchasers, where her experience in lending transactions has been especially helpful, to experienced real estate investors. The winner of a number of individual sales and professional achievement awards, Narlene was also a competitive women's soccer player, which has contributed to her sense of dedication and commitment in business. Ms. Carter-Keenan is married with 2 children, and co-founded The Keenan-Carter Group in 2001.

My sons and I moved from New Orleans, La. following my parents who retired here. They fell in love with this area when my father was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base when my parents were first married over 50 years ago. We spent every summer on the central coast on our family vacations where my mother was a firm believer and this was the perfect place to live.
My professional experience as a Realtor began in 1994 where I was first licensed in Louisiana. I love sales and helping people find the perfect place they can call home. I also have a background in catering and restaurant management. Great food, wine and entertaining is another passion shared in my family!
